With its eerily drab still frames layered thick with historical grunge witch hoodoo, The North End of the World is a disturbingly beautifully dark piece of artwork that utilizes heavy mediums, strong shadows, visible brush strokes, and reminiscent of the late 1800 post-mortem pictures resulting in this oversized coffee table graphic novel. The overall agrestic look of this book vexes the mind immediately exposing all of the qualities of a psychological thriller. As one man takes it upon himself to document and preserve the stories of the natives, he soon finds out that evil is in abundance and his greatest fear is none other than himself.

At an age where it often feels like it is always you against the world, one anxious little Prince will show readers that they too can learn to live life as one big quest filled with anomalous and magical adventure and overcome all of their own fears that have held them back from living their life. When Prince Iggy starts getting apprehensive about having to face and deal with his aunt, there is nothing more he would rather do than just forget about it all.

This is definitely a unique story line I felt it was geared more towards tweens and if you are a fan of the Ranger’s Apprentice then I think this story will quickly suck you in. Death of a King takes readers to the Scottish Late Middle Ages with a time-travel twist. I feel this aspect could totally have been taken out, and the story, with all of its rich historical content and placing Alex directly in the late thirteenth century, would have still made for a phenomenal read. The author, Andrew H. Vanderwal, includes just enough Scottish accent to give culture to the context but not to the point of causing difficulties when reading. If you have watched enough movies or know even the faintest about Scottish history, you will be enamored at the world building and story line that easily flow from cover to cover.

5* Book Review

This is the perfect starter chapter book for not only boys, but girls too. Harley Quinn may be on the wrong side of the law, but she definitely makes for an interesting bad girl. After kidnapping Robin with just a simple “KRAK!” of a crowbar, she uses him to get her hands on Batman. After meeting up with the Joker he provides readers with some corny jokes, which are actually funny.

Where was this book when I was a kid when I just never could wrap my imagination around the Sci-Fi genre? Be prepared for both boys and girls, and yourself, to easily be captured and taken deep into the Fantasy and Sci-Fi genre and never want to look back. Author D. Robert Pease is the Orson Scott Card of juvenile Sci-Fi and those reader’s who fell in love with Ender’s Game and his story will undeniably be hooked on the many adventures of Noah Zarc.

While the cover might deceive you as some self-help, I’m at the bottom of my luck, whom do I turn too, religious guide, one turn of the book and you quickly will find that you just might have to read the synopsis twice to make sure you read it right. Yes, Seth Miller, thirty-two year old architect bachelor is quite contently living the good life in New York’s Greenwich Village. That is until his mother informs him he is the son of God and the coming of Christ. Crazy parents, an error in the Bible, a phone call from God who just wants to retire and carry out other business adventure with Lucifer, and before you know it, Seth is taking on this role just in time for the encroaching Armageddon. Accompanied by a talking cat, his best friend Bob Nancy, whose wife is named Nancy, a disciple named Maggie, and a guardian angel with a penchant for hood rap, and you have this off-beat and cynical story that you know could only have come from the mind of one man; Duncan Whitehead.
